أعلنت إدارة متنزه “دبليو ناشونال بارك” في شمال بنين، مقتل خمسة حراس وجندي وإصابة عشرة آخرين، إثر كمين نصبه مسلحون لم تكشف هويتهم.
وأشارت مجموعة “أفريكان باركس”، التي تدير المتنزه، إلى أن فريقًا من الحراس تعرض للكمين أثناء قيامه بدورية عند الحد الشمالي للمتنزه، حيث يتقاطع مع بوركينا فاسو والنيجر.
ويعد هذا الهجوم الأكثر دموية في سلسلة حوادث مشابهة وقعت في الآونة الأخيرة، من المرجح أن يكون وراءها متشددون في شمال البلاد، الأمر الذي يزيد من مخاوف اتساع نطاق عنف المتشددين الإسلاميين في المنطقة.
وأضافت المجموعة، في بيان لها، أنه تم نشر تعزيزات من جيش بنين وحراس إضافيين في المنطقة.
